Meet The Craicheads…
Rising stars of London’s Irish music scene The Craicheads have carved themselves a reputation as one of the hardest working bands on the circuit.
Flashback to summer 2009 – after their old band The Random fell apart Mick O’Beirne (lead vocals / guitar) and Tim Eyles (guitar / mandolin) had been playing as a duo in various Irish pubs around London, calling themselves The Craicheads.
Whilst the acoustic duo worked well for the smaller shows, they soon started getting bigger and better gigs and it quickly became apparent that they’d need a bigger band – after several changes, the rest of the band are Ben Gunnery (fiddle / whistle / vocals), Stefan Marinov (bass / vocals), and Martin Stewart (drums / vocals).
If recent performances at the 2016 St Patrick’s Day Parade in Trafalgar Square, The Irish Post Awards 2015 & 2016, Luton Fleadh, LimeFest and The Rugby World Cup are anything to go by we can expect bigger and better things to come. Expect an energetic take on your favourite Celtic classics with a touch of punk, blues and good old fashioned rock’n’roll, and a ton of original material following on from 2014’s “Brewed In London” that showcases the whole lot put together.
Great craic indeed and coming to a venue near you soon.
